Non-natural factors

In addition to natural conditions, the level of agriculture is influenced by all the economic and social factors that determine the way of farming.

These factors include, but are not limited to, all agronomic treatments performed by farmers. In addition to performing tillage work in accordance with good practice, it is important to fertilise the soil with proper fertiliser. Crop rotation, or growing a different crop on the same land each year, helps get rid of weeds and prevents soil depletion.

Water is needed for plants to grow, so farmers have developed many irrigation systems to ensure that the soil is properly hydrated. In the event of heavy rains, drainage of fields by means of drains, ditches and drainage channels is used. During periods of drought, it is important to retain and store water for crops.

The government’s agricultural policy, which supports the efforts of young farmers, is very important. Polish farmers receive numerous forms of support funded by the European Union, which can make farming profitable. This allows for modernisation and the introduction of new farming and animal husbandry methods.
